Will The Wintersday Main Event Be Like The Mad King? - Guild Wars Forums

I'm just wondering whether the Wintersday main event will at all be like the mad king, where he appeared every few hours or so in Lions Arch & Kamadan etc.

I'm only asking because I remember how long it took me to find out about him & just don't want to miss any big events this year. I've read the Wintersday event page on the official GW site but can't seem to find out whether it will be the same sort of thing as the Mad King event.

It'll be the same sort of thing, the event will occur every few hours on christmas. From the looks of things it'll be the same setup as last year, a virtual "popularity contest" between Grenth and Dwyana, one set of "rings" for Grenth the other for Dwyana, the one with the most ppl standing in their rings wins, and presents/hats are distributed to all.

To make things easier for everyone, an honor code system was implimented so everyone got the hat they wanted, even districts for a Dwyana win, odd for a Grenth win.

my tip is to go read about past years Wintersday for info
it will most likely be much the same
altho hats will differ

Sort of. At the appointed hour, the avatars show up, and everyone is supposed to stand in their favorite gods set of rings. Kind of similar to Thorns thing where you had to stand in the circle.

I can't quite remember, but for about 15 minutes the avatars of Dwayna and Grenth rally people to come to their side. I don't remember if they give stuff out then or not. But at the end of the 15 minute interval, presents start falling from the sky. And you also automatically get a hat in your inventory from which ever deity won the district.

So it's sort of like Mad King Thorn, but without the colorful jokes.

The Final event is being mistakenly declared to be happening on the 25th of December. The final event will not take place until Jan 1st.

Yup, happens on New Year's, not before. Kamadam event also starts 15 minutes later then the LA event, so you can visit both if you have them. Remember to bring your candy shards for their little mini-game.

And presents fall from the sky at end of event if Dwayna wins, Grenth just sends out his grinchs to kill you.
